Description
The SW-MOTECH aluminum engine guard skidplate is constructed using a single structural piece of bent 3mm-thick aluminum for heavy-duty and lightweight protection. Where the base plates and side plates overlap it forms a 6mm-thick rail for extra rigidity. Base plate includes side protectors that wrap around the engine block to provide both bottom and side protection. Available in bare aluminum only. read more

Nice skid plate for reasonable cost. Fit well, shipped promptly, no issues. I like the idea of cut – outs, to ensure best possible cooling, it is after all, an air cooled application. Mounts to engineered frame points, rather then than some others that use a ‘conduit style’ frame clamp. It is quiet, no rattles, and heavy enough to handle the expected use my riding will entail.

Very nicely made, and easy to fit, although was somewhat disappointed with the gauge of the metal used. Should be good for light use.

Mounting this skid plate was really straightforward and easy, and it looks great on the bike. It will provide good protection, but I was a bit disappointed with the thickness of the plating, especially given that this was not a cheap skid plate; it would be better if it was a thicker and more robust, but I’m sure it’ll be fine for mild off road use.

Got this skid plate since the mounting points seemed better thought out than the conduit clamps all the other seem to use. Too thin for off-road use. Good for one use on the road. It will be getting straightened out and going on the wife’s DR 650. A thicker plate with the mounting style of this plate would be sweet. Oh well.
