“I was able to get on the TA today for a bit of fire road riding. Here’s a photo of my TA on a muddy and snow filled fire road in WA state. The SW-MOTECH skid plate worked and looks great! It’s great to roll along listening to the rocks ping against the plate knowing that if the next pot hole is deeper than it looks… at least now I have a chance!”
Dave Steven owner of a U.S. 1989 model XL600V wrote to us as well:
“The aluminium skid plate went on without a hitch although there was a rubber grommet in the bag of parts; I haven’t figured out where it’s supposed to go. No instructions were included – there are only 3 bolts.”

Love the guard, easy to install. The only issue is that you need to play around with the positioning of the whole guard so it doesn’t rattle against the exhaust or mounting brackets for the OEM plastic guard. Also, I had to add some rubber bumpers between the bottom belly plate and the crank case. The flat belly of the guard vibrates and rattles against the bottom of the crank case. Doesn’t hurt anything, just annoying. All in all, very satisfied.
