Description

There are 4 brackets and 8 mounting bolts to help distribute the force of an impact over a larger area. Also designed into this skid plate are rubber dampeners in key locations that further distribute the load. No cutting or drilling required. All mounting hardware included.

The Pyramid Plastics Fenda Extenda for the front fender cannot be used on this motorcycle if the SW-MOTECH skid plate is installed because the products occupy the same physical space when the suspension is fully compressed.

Note: This product is designed to work with the stock exhaust system. May be compatible with aftermarket exhausts.

Must be removed to change oil

After bashing the oil pan on my FJ-09 I ordered and installed this. It does it job, but isn’t stylish at all and the front shows rock chip damage immediately. The big problem is you have to remove the whole thing (2 separate pieces) to change your oil.
You cannot easily access all the mounting hardware and the small flush mount socket heads easily strip. Since I change my oil at least twice a year, this has become a real pain. I’d hunt for another solution.

skidplate for FZ09 poorly designed for oil changes

    Helene

I returned mine. The plate blocks the drain bolt and either you have to modify the plate to have a “hole” or you have to remove the skid plate each time you have to change the oil.

    Protection, Intergrated styling

This is a three piece guard/skid plate. A mount that connect to the bottom of the engine, and a two piece plate that mounts to the base mount. The plate is almost unnoticed from the side of the bike. It appears that it will provide good protection to the drain plug area of the motor. The only down side is that the complete guard will have to be removed for an oil change.

    Great fit, peace of mind!

Have had it for about 3 weeks. It was very easy to install once I was able to unscrew all the bolts off the bike. It fits like a glove, and protects the entire underbelly of the bike, especially that oil drain plug- gives me peace of mind knowing that oil is not going to gush out if I do manage to hit the underside on the road/sidewalk/stone etc. Also, it really looks well finished and gels with the lines of the bike.
