GSWRider –
As noted in the other review, doesnt seem like these would hold up on a tip over. I can in fact verify that’s true. Have these installed on my GSW, and when the bike went over the other day while at a near standstill, and I actually somewhat braced the bike from full impact, the bar bent and the plastic shattered. Wasn’t even close to being a hard hit. Really disappointed. The other design deficiency is you must remove the handlebar ends that your outer portion of hand rests on – with these gone it puts a lot of strain on your hands riding hard technical offroad trails. It’s a poorly overall designed product.

Wantajustride –
I bought these for my 2014 BMW R1200GS Adventure and was not impressed with the product after installation.
Problem 1
The hand guard bracket that mounts inside the front brake and clutch reservoirs rubs the body panels that cover the tank at full lock. I don’t yet know if the panels will get damaged when the bike goes down and pushes the handle bar to full lock.
This would not be an issue if you had bar risers installed, But there are some who ride that don’t think risers are “Mandatory” as the masses may have you believe.
Problem 2
The “Standard” plastic guard that fits over the backbone doesn’t provide any wind or weather protection to your hands. Thus I ordered the “Optional” extensions for an additional cost, to hopefully get some hand protection from the elements.
Problem 3
The plastic covers are installed to the guard backbone by means of small self tapping screws and plastic brackets. Again I’m not convinced that these are going to hold up to any off -road tip over. And let’s face it, If you “Ride” these big adventure bikes enough, at some point you are going to dump the thing in some type of technical section.
One positive thing I will say about these guards is the install was very easy.
Bottom line for an investment of $200, I’m not very satisfied. I don’t think they are worth the money.
A person may be able to find better options than these guards out there.
