I drive a BMW 1200GS. I bought this thinking that maybe one day my bike could fall, and to protect the cylinder head this would work. Well guess what, my bike fell and this actually broke the cylinder head. They have this screws for the “SW MOTECH” metal piece to be attached. My bike was static, I had it in 1st gear and with the side foot and some how it did not went all the way open and locked to hold the bike on its side, so the foot fail and my bike fell, just with this fall that little screw im talking about perforated the cylinder head which is made from magnesium, eventually all oil started leaking out. In the pictures you can see in the blue circle the damage to the cylinder and in the yellow circle is the screw that broke.
This guards are made for protection and prevent damage to the cylinder head, and they actually do more damage than protect. And for $267, they are not worth it, I definitely do not recommend this. You have to get something that has no screws or other parts (that are in contact with the head) that may damage when the bike fells. It looks very nice and everything, premium quality in materials, just not good for what is made for.

I ride a 2015 BMW R1200gs Adventure. I had to loosen my crash bars to get them on. The instructions didn’t mention that, but not a big deal. It’s only 4 bolts. The guards were in the way of the crash bars when I tried to tighten them back up. I ended up putting three washers between the crash bar and bike to give the guards the clearance they needed so that they wouldn’t rub on the crash bars.

Kind of hard to do a full review without dumping the bike and that hasnt happened but it appears these cover the critical area at the lower edges of the heads on my 2014 1200 GS Adventure. They are light weight and certainly dont detract from the bikes appearance in any way. Be aware they aren’t hard to put on but you do have to take a bit of time, lay it all out and contemplate how it goes on as the printed directions are a little obtuse (for me at least). When completed you will think it was pretty simple, and it is, but not without a little forethought in my opinion.
