I’ve read many reviews and decided to buy the sw motech crash bars for my vstrom. I’m very happy with the construction, fit and finish. I was apprehensive about installing it myself, but it was not bad. It looks good. Hopefully, I don’t have to put it to use.

I waited for these crash bars to be 1 for my 2017 v-strom 650 and they fit nice on the bike, sturdy, and have a good finish. Today I mounted a Ravetech skid plate and realized that the left side crash bar tube that meets the righ side tube in front of the engine was welded at an off angle of a few degrees. this in turn forced the skid plate to the rear just enough to make interference with the center stand an issue. Hence the 3 stars

Easy to install They make the bike look like it should Very strongly made bars. 3500 miles on my 2017 Vstrom 650 with SW add-ons and I am extremely satisfied. Sound quality construction from SW at Twisted Throttle

Well made and it looks like they will hold up well in a “drop”. Some have had trouble with the bolt holes lining up, but if you install all the hardware before doing the finally torquing down it’s no problem

Product took a while to ship but after calling Twisted Throttle was advised this was as they were waiting to receive their SW Motech shipment. After being shipped, the product arrive well packed and exactly on the day they estimated. Product is very nice and goes together easily. However, mine arrived with multiple nicks and scratches in the finish. The product looks new so perhaps this was a quality control issue in manufacturing. Outside of the nicks and scratches the finish is excellent.

Simple instructions to get them to line up the first time:
Remove the bolts from the left side of the engine (or right it really doesn’t matter just one at a time)
Put the front top and the bottom rear bolt in through the bars and just get them threaded
Now with the first 2 bolts in and the bar hanging on them fit the inside bolts with thread locker
Remove and rethread the first two bolts with thread locker, tighten all 4 bolts just until they are snug
Repeat the process on the other side, once you snug the bolts on the second side check the alignment on the crossbar. Jiggle things around and loosen off bolts if you need to but they will come close together eventually.
Once you get them close, thread the crossbar bolts into place, these bolts will pull the bars together. Easiest way to tighten these is to turn the handlebars towards the side your working from, you won’t need a wrench on the nut because the holes in the back are fitted to hold it already, just tighten the allen key.
Lastly, torque everything down, I started at the top left bolt then the bottom right and kept alternating from one side to the other until they were all tight.
The entire installation took 30 minutes. Simple easy fit, thanks!

Is so glad I purchased this crash car and skid plate. They look great and went on so easy. I also installed some foopegs on the bar for when I am on the highway. They almost fold out of sight.

Very solid and high quality with great fit. They look great on the bike but also blend in like a factory install. The hardest part was getting the factory mounting bolts out…holy thread locker!

I got these for my wife’s 2012 V-strom. The finish and fit of the bars was perfect, all hardware provided and installation was easy with the simple instruction sheet. They look great on the bike and she is delighted with them. Great product.

Fast delivery. Easy to install. Sturdy. Look great. More protection at lower cost than the oem bars.

Beefy bars. The left side didn’t line up that well with the right side at the connection in front of the engine — close enough to make it fit, though. Shiny black paint doesn’t match the matte black of the vstrom 650 and looks a bit out of place. The design blocks the bolt used by frame sliders, so you can’t have both these and frame sliders.

I bought the SW-MOTECH crash bars for my 2012 Suzuki V-Strom DL650. They arrived in four days, shipped free! Installed in half an hour. Look great! Hope I never find out how durable they are!
In contrast, on the same day I ordered other accessories for my Wee from another company which shall remain nameless (initials HT). A month later I have only received two of the four items I ordered, one which I have to send back. My fault for not reading the description carefully – it wasn’t REALLY “Universal”, just kinda. Couldn’t have put it on anyway as they forgot the hardware! The other item, a skid plate, is awaiting the arrival of the adapter kit to fit the SWM bars. Still awaiting other items and return shipping labels. It’s actually worse than that but this is the short version.
In summary, my first experience with Twisted Throttle and SWM are positive and I’ll definitely be back!
