Description
These SW-Motech Rally Crash Bars for the DL650 V-Strom feature a thicker tubing diameter than the previous guards (26.9mm vs. 21.3mm) extend higher up on the side panels for more direct impact protection and still work perfectly with the aluminum skidplate from SW-Motech.
All components are protected against corrosion by sandblasting and powdercoating. Two high-strength frame mounting points. Black.
Read what our customers have to say:
I purchased and installed a set of the new Motech guards a few weeks ago. They are easy to install once you break loose the tough Suzuki Locktite equivalent stuff. You no longer have to replace the big bolt through the engine. They attach with four bolts on each side with a new thick spacer washer behind each bolt.
The fit well and come up higher to protect the plastic better.
No vibration whatsoever.
…
I just installed the new style crash bars and the new style skid plate the two tone black/silver and cant say enough good about them. These things are beefy as can be and I cant imagine anything working better though I hope I never have to find out. You may need an impact wrench handy to take out the OEM bolts though!
Check out the totally Twisted Suzuki DL650 which is outfitted with this Twisted component

I bought these 4 weeks ago. They arrived timely and I installed them with no problems. I took my time which was approx. 1 hour. I dropped my bike 2 weeks ago and not a scratch. My pride is bruised tho!!!! Recommend them highly. My riding buddies have the same bars on their Tiger and Verses.

Bars are good quality, fit great, and easy install. However, I had several of the bolts strip out due to their shallow head and being aluminum. On the V-strom they call for 35 Nm and I ended up buying flanged SS bolts that work much better.

Super easy install on my V-Strom. Took a totally of 30min. Suzuki really likes to torque down the bolts on their out of the factory bikes. Be careful not to strip the factory allen bolts.

I bought these in September of 2010. 3-4 drops, 1 hard lay down in a field… These bars are the equivalent of a Sherman Tank. They stand up to just about anything you throw at them including the Earth below and, cars. I was negotiating a parking lot one afternoon and I suddenly realized that a fender was up against my leg and I hear a crunch. In the space of what had to be 7-9 seconds I discovered that a car had just crashed into my SW-Motech bar on the left side, the cars fender had a dent the size of a loaf of bread. The bike (’09 DL650) didn’t budge an inch from its course. “YOU OK!!!!!”, the driver yells at me through their window. “Yeah, you OK?!?”, “I’m fine, hey, don’t worry about the car, its junk anyway.”, “You sure?”… all the while I never put a foot on the ground. I just accelerated away. A closer inspection revealed that the bar had a scuff and gave 3-4mm of movement toward the engine absorbing the impact. Some day I hope to find a way to pull the bar back out. It’s a small bit though. BUY THEM WITH CONFIDENCE!

I purchased the ‘cosmetically damaged’ crashbars that were on special. First off, barely a scuff on them. Secondly – easiest install I’ve ever had on my motorcycle. I’ve had them on for about 100 miles so far and they’ve not produced a bit of vibration. I can’t even tell they are there. That was until I dropped my bike parking it in slippery grass the other day. One of the bars took the brunt of the fall, was covered in dirt, but did it’s job. I hope I don’t have to test them again, but I’m sure if I do they’ll perform flawlessly. Very glad I invested in these.
