Description

Fits both standard height and “S” model of the LC8 Adventure 950 and 990. All components are protected against corrosion by sandblasting and powdercoating. High-strength frame mounting points. Black.

No cutting or welding is required for installation.

Constructed of 26.9mm outer-diameter mild steel tubing.

Installation note:
The current revision of these crash bars (rev. 2) clears each of the fuel petcocks by approximately 5mm (see pictures on this page). If you notice that one of the petcocks has greater clearance (maybe 8-10mm) and the opposite petcock has less clearance (maybe 0-2mm) then your rubber-mounted fuel tank is bolted on off-center. Loosen the bolts holding the tank in place and shift the tank so that the crashbar-to-petcock clearances are the same on both the left and right sides of the bike then retighten your tank attachment bolts.

    Bike: 2008 ktm 990 adventure.
    Product: sw motech crash bars

I have been to 6 ktm north America rallys, and I am aways looking at all the bikes for the best products for me. I bought the ktm hard parts crash bars from the dealer and they did the job ok, considering I’ve wrecked the bike twice off road and laid it down multiple times as I ride in the mountains of Colorado. In the back of my mind I always knew I would be buying the SW Motech crash bars if I ever was required to buy another set. My last wreck broke the weld from the front verticle bar on one side of the crash bars. SW Motech time. Two main differences between the two different sets: the Motech are thicker tubing and they have the front brace that links both sides together which the KTM hard Parts did not have…
causing me to have to take the bars off and bend the inside support bar back to Center if I ever laid the bike down. The Motech bars also have a better attachment design to the bike frame on the furthest attachment back.

    Solid protectoin

    RPH

Easy to install, do a nice job of protecting lower tanks on the 990. Already put to use once, and other than some scuffing bars held beautifully.

    Very good quality.

I purchased the SW-Motech crash bars for my 950 adventure and they are very ridged and heavy duty. Take your time mounting.
