Description

Provides protection to both the fairing and engine without interfering with oil changes or removal of cylinder head covers for valve adjustments.

All components are protected against corrosion by sandblasting and powdercoating.

The black powdercoated finish has a gloss clear topcoat providing an additional layer of rust protection and beautifying your ride!

High-strength frame mounting points and 26.9mm diameter mild steel tubing provide heavy duty protection.

Same as the SW-MOTECH crash bars made for Wudo Germany (just a different brand sticker).

Please Note:

  • Will not fit the ’15 Water-cooled R1200R
  • Not for use with Remus Revolution exhausts.

Customer Testimonial

Last July I had a “parking lot” accident – I was cut off at a local university by a speeding cyclist (pedal powered) and my machine went down. I tried to keep it up with my right hand and the throttle opened in first gear. The machine launched without me and came down sans instrument panel brake reservoir LH mirror the handlebars into the gas tank. Get this: I had SW Motech crash bars on and they were badly crushed and scrapped ON BOTH sides of the bike but besides a scrapped magnesium head no damage to the engine! The total crash bill:
$6 000+. Without my “mo-techs” (cost: ~two hundred bucks) the machine would have been a total loss.

I cannot recommend these strongly enough. The best thing(s) are:
1. They look great – black steel tubing just like your frame.
2. You can rest your feet on them while cruising to “stretch your legs”

Attached is a link to “Twisted Throttle” – I have now ordered two sets (original and replacement) and I enthusiastically recommend both.

    Nice fit, quality

Have not put them to a tip over, fall test. Look good, installed smoothly. Nice spot for auxiliary lights.

    sw-motech r1200r 2007 engine guards

    golanmoto

i bought those guards and installed them in 2015. the guards are heavy duty made, very good quality. the BMW cylinders are not parallel that means the guards should be different on each side in order to perfectly fit. that was not the situation. i had to enlarge one hole on one side of the guard in order to install it and after installation it is not as promised, if you need to do maintenance to the bike, like valve adjustment you will have to uninstall the guard on one side. i think it is the manufacturer problem but i did not get any satisfying solution despite my emails on the subject. i recommend the item because of it’s quality but be aware of the problem i mentioned. if you want a perfect fit you need to buy from a different manufacturer, not sw-motech.

SW Motech crash bars saved right side of my engine

    robr1200r

I crashed at about 40mph after hitting some sand in the median on a curvy road in early spring. The right side engine guard saved my right cylinder cover and cylinder head. I really didn’t buy these to take that kind of impact but just the normal drops a rider may have. I was really impressed with how they stood up to a 40mph impact and slide. I bought another one to replace it! Very durable product!

  6. Sandeep

Best Engine bars for R1200R and Priced Right

    Sandeep

I purchased these from Twisted throttle and couldn’t be happier. SW Motech is top notch quality and this engine crash guards didn’t disappoint. Easy to install, took about 30 minutes. I looked at many and they were crazy over priced. Then when i saw the SW Motech, i figured let me order and try it and in the flash sale they were under $200. perfect product, fast free shipping, great dealer support when i talked to them

    Great product, easy install.

    Gareful

I ordered a set of SW-Motech crashbars two months ago on a Thursday morning and they were delivered on Saturday morning. In less than an hour I installed them and they looked great. I think these could pay for them selves with just one tip-over. They don’t take away from the looks of the bike at all and the protection is well worth getting a set.

    Good product

I like the protection and look of the SW Motech engine guards. Unfortunately mine arrived with a small scuff in the metal/ paint. I wanted them on for a road trip so I didn’t bother making it an issue. I’m sure TT would have exchanged them. Overall a solid product but check for any damage when you get them.

    great product. tested many times!

I had this bars on an 08 r12r and used it for 40k+ miles, during which time i went down violently many times in the dirt, (i know, i know it’s not a dirtbike 🙂 ), and dropped the bike a couple of times on the street, with the engine intact, and was able to keep riding every time.

These are SOLID bars, high quality build.
They are also great to rest your feet on during long trips.

I just bought my second R1200R yesterday, and these crashbars will be the very first addition.

    I highly recommend them.

My r1200r already has aluminum covers over the cylinders. They stick out about a quarter inch. Will these crash bars fit without having to remove the covers ?
Could I put a metal spacer to bring the bars farther out to accommodate the covers ?
