Installed these on my 2018 BMW R-1200RS thanks to the usual great service from Twisted Throttle. Instructions are very clear, as long as you take your time and pay attention. My only challenge was removing the top factory frame bolt (the long one), Oh Sweet Moses, I didn’t think you could torque a bolt so tight without snapping or stripping it!

Normally I’d just put frame sliders on, but a BMW wet head needs significantly more protection. Knowing that things happen, it was a no brainer to install these protective crash bars. The black finish goes perfectly with the bike’s color scheme.
Installation wasn’t hard, but it wasn’t easy either. Very paranoid about dropping it or scratching the new finish on the bike, but it went very well. Take your time and recheck the instructions constantly. It was easy (for me) for the diagram to look different than what the manufacturer intended. Having some parts backwards wouldn’t be easy to spot until you wonder why it just isn’t going together without a fight.

I had an RT that was totaled via a bent frame. I was surprised to see how damaged the engine guards were although the hit was not on the guards themselves. Rather than making the same mistake twice, I went into Google and looked at each and everyone. The Twisted Throotle offered the best all Round protection for the money!

The bars are fit perfectly for each side of the engine. It is very helpful to lay out all the parts first. Once organized farely easy to install.

I like it because for it can protects engine from multiple angles comparing with others. Installation maybe a bit tricky and took longer than I expected. Overall, it is a very good product.

Right after purchasing my 2015 BMW R1200R I bought a set of Hepco-Becker crash bars. They were ok, but not exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, the SW-Motech crashbars were not available then.
The SW-Motech crashbars are very solidly built and offer more protection as well as more options to mount lights and road pegs. The Hepco bars were more of a cantilevered design, while the SW-Motech bars have more support, including an additional through-the-frame bolt at the top, at the back of the crashbars.
Installation was simple, instructions were well done, with the entire job taking around 90 minutes, including removing the Hepco bars.
