Like everyone else, I looked around a lot before buying these and went with Givi because I like the one piece front bar. Others have a joint right in the center and I wanted to avoid that. There are other options out there, some stiffer and some less so, but I feel that these will give ample protection from drops and minor spills, yet have some give to them and possibly bend a bit in the event of a harder hit. Like a crumple zone in a car. I’d rather replace a bent crash bar than whatever it’s mounted to, if that makes any sense.
The instructions are terrible (that’s why I gave it 4 stars), but having said that, once you get into it the process shouldn’t take more than an hour. And I didn’t remove any fairings, either. I left all connections loose and tightened them up evenly and had no problems. The black finish goes great with my white Versys x 300 and they look and fit great. Hopefully I won’t have to give any damage reports. I only had the bike out once since mounting these and haven’t needed them (yet)

After looking at all guards for the mini Versys only two stand out for having a solid mount that ties both sides together, the GIVI and the heavier T-Rex. I ruled out the factory guards because they use the flimsy fairing subframe to join the two sides, so in the event of an impact the subframe will be deformed making it nearly impossible to line up the many fairing pieces. Installation is a pain for all guards because Kaw placed a sturdy frame mounting boss behind an opening in the fairing so any service that requires fairing removal also requires guard removal.
