SW-MOTECH 12-volt Electric Top Ring Upgrade Kit for EVO Tank Bag Mounting Systems

Provide a 12 volt power supply to the inside your EVO Tank Bag with the SW-MOTECH EVO 2.0 12-volt Electric QUICK-LOCK Top Ring Upgrade Kit. Compatible with most EVO tank rings this kit is designed to replace the standard top ring that came with your tankbag to provide a quickly detachable and clean power supply to its interior. Power running to the tank ring is controlled by a switch on the main power supply cable that detects when the bag is mounted and removes power to the tank ring mounted T-connector when the bag is removed. This means you never have to worry about unsightly dangling wires or the hassle of unplugging devices. Installation is simple a drill bit template hex key and torx bit are included to allow you to swap out your existing top ring or make a fresh install on a new bag as well as connect the SAE supplied power cable to feed your devices. A switched and fused main power supply connects directly to the battery and plugs into a T-connector that attached to your existing EVO tank ring. This T-connector allows power to pass through the ring when the bag is mounted and provides a clean look when it is is detached. Since there is a small draw on the power switch while the bag mounted we recommend removing your tank bag from your motorcycle when it will sit for long periods of time or overnight. Note the Second: To prevent the electrical contacts that would be exposed when there is no bag on the tank ring SW-MOTECH uses a magnetic latch system to deactivate power to the tank ring when no bag is present. Testing for power at the tank-ring terminals without a tankbag mounted will result in a “false negative” of no power at the ring. Instead install the tank bag and test at the terminals inside the bag. Please and thank you.

Yet one more note:  This ring uses the newer EVO 2.0 system and is NOT compabitle with the older EVO 1.0 electric tank bags.

Attention: The SW-MOTECH EVO 2.0 12-volt Electric QUICK-LOCK Top Ring supplied in this kit is compatible only with EVO 2.0 main power supply cable and T-connector supplied with the EVO 2.0 top rings. Use with the wiring harness & T-connector of previous EVO 12-volt Top Rings is not possible.

SW-MOTECH EVO 2.0 and EVO Top Ring Guide

SW-MOTECH EVO 2.0 and the previous EVO 12-volt top rings are not compatible with each other due to differences in the T-connector that mounts on the tank ring as well as the switch pickup in the top rings. Motorcycles that have the T-connector from previous generation EVO 12-volt top ring kits will have to install the new power supply cable and T-connector that is supplied with the EVO 2.0 12-volt kit.EVO 2.0 and EVO Top Ring DifferencesUse the images below to determine if your existing top ring is EVO 2.0 or EVO.

If you already have an SW-MOTECH EVO 12-volt Tank Bag and you wish to use it with the EVO 2.0 T-connector and power supply you will need to purchase an SW-MOTECH EVO 2.0 12-volt Top Ring Kit to retrofit the EVO tank bag.

Although SW-MOTECH EVO 2.0 12-volt Electric QUICK-LOCK Top Rings are compatible with most EVO tank rings they are not compatible with the following:
