    Well made

This tube is constructed of thick abs plastic and designed to last. I was disappointed that no mounting hardware is included with it. Any mounting hardware requires an additional purchase.

    Perfect fit

    LSAMC

Excellent addition, fit perfectly under my panniers opposite my exhaust on my Wee-Strom. Water tight so far through muddy puddles but haven’t used it during severe rain yet. Used heavy duty zip ties to attach to pannier frame and it has held up on rough terrain including rock gardens. They sell a mount system but seems over priced and not up to rough riding. I could easily fit a second tube on the same side. Perfect for a little extra fuel when out in no man’s land or for use with MSR camping stove for moto-camping.

    Unable to Close

    TrailtrekerNJ

Purchased two containers to hold spare fuel.
From the start closing the lid was difficult due to the plastic threads. Play with it long enough it would close and I could live with that.
However, after dropping one container the top split. No longer useful.

    Works and looks great!

    Pale Rider

I used Twisted Throttle points that I accumulated to purchase the dry spec tube. I installed it on my XR650L behind the left side panel where the battery box used to be (I previoysly relocated the battery and other components under the seat). I manufactured an offset aluminum bracket for the rear mounting position to allow for adequet clearance for the rear tire suspension range. The tube fit perfectly in that location and looks factory. Great item for tools or bottle of fuel or water. Best freebee ever however the regular price is also excellent.

I had that tube installed on my Tiger 800XC. For once, I decide to use it with bottle of fuel full.
Bad idea for rough roads. Brackets bend, and plastic broke.
Ok product for pavement, but not for off-road use. Clearly!

It is of good quality, have not put it on yet, but couldn’t pass it up (the price).i will find a place for it. You can’t have too much open space on your bike.

    Great Emergency Fuel Tube

    kaber5150

I got one of these about a year ago and I’m very pleased with it. I mounted it with a set of framing braces from Ace Hardware to my side case rack. The extra fuel actually saved a friends bacon on a long trip in June, he ran out of gas two miles short of town.

    Very functional....

    jared greenstone

I use this particular storage unit on my 2010 Vstrom with OEM luggage…sits nicely along the inside of the rack on the left side of the bike…slightly modified my rack (one small hole drilled) to line up with the centre hole on the unit so that it mounted slightly at an upwards angle….great for lube and a rack and perhaps a few tools.

Bought two to install on my bike to store tools. Wish there were an option without the mounting ears, but I just cut them off and used clamps.

  16. ChrisG

    It has a hole?

    ChrisG

It’s made by ‘dry spec’, the threaded lid has a rubber seal but just below the top mount there is a small hole? Otherwise it’s exactly as you see on the product page.

    Gobear

Having already purchased one of these tool tubes for my self, this was for a friends birthday. I waited till almost the last minute to order ..read duh.

You guys got it to me in plenty of time before his birthday celebration..great timing.
I have yet to be disappointed with any of your products and the level of service you offer is first rate.. More companies should take a page from your book on customer service

    Thanks again

  19. Blaine

    This thing is awesome

    Blaine

Bought it, installed it on the bottom of my Givi side case and now keep an emergency liter of fuel in there, all the time. I bounced along some gravel and dirt roads for 100 miles during a 600 mile road trip for the first “test” of my luggage set-up and the screw cap lid never even budged. Snug it down hand-tight, and put some bubble wrap or spare foam in the cap to hold the fuel bottle (or tools) tight, and you’ll have no issues with this, even on rough roads. I used some nyloc nuts and bigger washers and split-lock washer to make it bomb proof. Will definitely buy this tube again, for other bikes.

  20. Scott

    DrySpec' ?

    Scott

I bought 2 of these, and first impression was some durable construction. The second was “Where’s the mounting brackets?”, this is a common thread it would seem. I found the mounting brackets and had some price shock… the brackets cost more than the tubes… ? The third was the ‘hole’ in the ‘dryspec’ tubes… not sure why, nor is the hole located for ‘drainage’… (will probably plug said hole…) the mounting, well, I used some scrap strapping I had left over from the garage door opener mounting.

I’ve installed and will be testing, I hope to find something better for the mounting, but… for now, it’ll do… I would hate to have to drop another $50 plus S&H… for brackets, but one will do what one must…

I purchased these to hold water, and maybe a fuel cell. I’m not ‘yet’ a ‘die-hard’ off roader… I have a Triumph Explorer which I love, but it has it’s faults…

I would recommend this product, but with ‘cautions’…

    Nice idea, but....

have bought two of these ; I thought the first time I lost the cap that it had been stolen but the second one definitely vibrated off. Some kind of positive locking device would be useful for this storage device.

  23. TerriRider

Simple product that does the trick

    TerriRider

Fits just about any motorcycle with luggage mounted. Fits the MSR fuel bottle like they were made for each other.
I have no idea what the other reviewer is complaining about with no hardware. It includes a full hardware fit right down to the correct drill bit. Yes, if you want to mount using special method you’re required to buy extra hardware. That’s to be expected.
The lids are VERY secure. There is no way that this vibrated off. It has about 10-15 turns of threads and a thick rubber seal. When you tighten it down the rubber seal squishes and it is difficult to remove buy hand if you get overly meat fisted tightening it. All you need to do it to actually tighten the lid. No pin or lock is required. If you need a positive lock on this then you should not be riding a motorcycle.

I picked up 3 of these for my DR, installed easily on my frame and cases. Minor complaint about the mounting frame bolt location and the contact with the tube lids (not the end of the world, just disappointing)

    BigRed12

I was so impressed with the quality of this fuel tube that I bought another one. Easy to install and all the tools needed to install came with it. If you need special tools to install then buy them because it’s worth it.

Will dress/cover up the zip ties with a leather strap or elastic band to disguise how its attached… carried my ‘stuff’ as advertised and I like it a lot more than those gaudy leather purses (called tool bags).

    Great storage for small stuff.

    GFkam

I purchased the DrySpec Tool Tube Kit for my 2011 BMW F650GS Twin. I mounted mine to the Jessie luggage frame. I decided to go to my local hardware store for mounting hardware. I used a couple of small rubber coated clamps and one big pipe clamp. Where and how you mount the tool tube kit depends on what kind of pannier brackets you have and space. Great space for storing a liquid fuel bottle, or some tools, or tire repair kit, or spare tire tubes. I’ve seen other riders mount the tool tube kit directly to the panniers.

  31. JimJustJim

    Great Tube!

    JimJustJim

I bought this one to replace a tool tube that came on a used DL650. The previous tube (I believe it was also a DrySpec) had problems with the threads cross threading and would pop off entirely if over tightened. Well, inevitably I lost the lid on a highway trip and I’m thankful my fuel bottle didn’t come out into traffic! I was apprehensive about replacing it but in the end I’m glad I did. The newest iterations of this tool tube are made of an obviously denser plastic and the lid has more threading, making it a LOT more secure than the last version. It also came with a Twisted Throttle reflective orange sticker on the lid that resembles a hazard symbol. I love it and definitely trust it to hold my msr fuel bottle!

I recently received the tool tube. Delivery was timely. The quality looks solid. I fabbed some alu brackets to mount the tube onto my Husky TR650 skidplate. Location looks good. I have yet to test it in actual offroad riding conditions, but it certainly looks sturdy enough.

Made a bracket and added this to my Yamaha XT250 duel sport for a little extra fuel capacity. This along with the MSR 30oz fuel can did the trick, just what I needed for this small trail street bike.
