    Does the job

The first one snapped on one of the arms that mount to the subframe, Twisted Throttle was great and got me a new piece as soon as they could, all no charge under warranty. I recently replaced my ’14 STR with an ’18 STR765RS and lo and behold, it mounts right up. The instructions are mostly useful (drilling out holes in the under-tray, orientation of the spacers, etc.) but you will need to remove the side panels on the rear and the center plastic receptacle for the rear seat lock, but not difficult at all. The replacement was good for about 6k miles and I just transferred it to my 765 tonight. There aren’t a lot of options and I really like being able to keep my helmet on the bike when I park or grab a couple of things from the grocery store on the way home.

Broke after two years of use!

    kenzan

This broke after a two years of use. Never over loaded. Used with a 37L Givi case. It broke while riding with the case completely empty. Noticed it shaking more and more as time progressed. Not strong enough metal used in this rack even for mounting a smaller top case.

  5. IslandTosh

    Looks good, feels sturdy

    IslandTosh

I got this as a Christmas gift and finally got around to installing it on my 2013 Street Triple R. It comes with the necessary drill bits for the undertray; you need to drill 4 holes so that you can access the threaded bungs in the subframe. I chose to go to a Triumph dealer and purchase the OEM part that has the holes in it already, just in case I want to return the bike to stock at some point.

Overall, install was pretty easy, easier than the install of the Alu-Rack on my 2004 Ninja 250 (the spacers were easier to keep in place this time.) That one’s given me 2 years of good service, and this one feels at least as substantial.

Fatigue and broke after about 6,000 miles.

    soulsurfer

My rack fatigue and broke after about 6,000 miles. I had a Givi V47 which may have been too heavy. Since there is no other options, I will need to buy another. But this time I am going to take it to a welder and have extra braces put in.

    Sturdy and looks great

    Wes

Started using the SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack with adapter for Givi Monokey V47 (47 liter just fits 2 helmets). Rack is sturdy. No rack or topcase rattle. Practical and unobtrusive. I love the look and design. Only downside is with the way a Triumph Street Triple seat locks downward and unlocks upward. When a large topcase such as the V47 is mounted, space is insufficient to remote the seat. No problem removing the seat when the topcase is removed first.

  8. Jamezracer

    Hastily designed

    Jamezracer

I feel like this was done by an intern. The standoffs holding the bracket to the bike rely on spherical washers to correct for the brackets not sitting square on the bike’s subframe. Even at the limit of these spherical washers the bracket does not sit square. The nuts provided for attachment to the bike are distorted-style locknuts which are so difficult to thread on that I sourced my own nuts. Two different length screws are provided for no apparent reason as they go through the same thickness material in the bike’s subframe. Finally, the bracket is made in three pieces even though it could be made as one single stronger piece. The 4 flat head cap screws that are visible in the product picture hold the three pieces together and are too soft and all vibrated loose after a short ride since they are under pure shear stress. My temporary solution in the parking lot of an auto parts store in the middle of the night was to put red high strength thread lock on all of them and torque them to within a few ft-lbs of rounding the heads out. More appropriately sized hex head bolts would be better, designing the whole unit as one piece instead of three would be the real solution.

On the upside, it is strong enough to hold a large pelican case or the weight of a person.

  9. WaynoJ

    Compact, easy to install.

    WaynoJ

As an occasional sport-tourer, I have a Givi 45-liter top case that comes in very handy for hauling a lot of stuff, so obviously I needed a rack for it when I bought my new Street Triple 675. There are several options out there, but the SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack struck me as being much more compact and unobtrusive than the others, so I went with it, even though it was quite a bit more expensive than most. It was a relatively easy install. Other than having to drill holes in the rear sub-frame, which seemed a bit drastic, it was a straight-forward process. The rack is very well made, very sturdy and adds only a small mass to the rear of the bike. A great option if you need a rack.
