Does not fit, screws fell off after just a week.

I’m not very happy with this product.
First I had the same issue related by other reviewers, I could not close my seat once the rack was installed. To be able to lock my seat, I had to dremel a hole from the bottom part of the seat.

And then there is the screws that fell off. After a week of use, I noticed that one othe the screws holding the back plate to the bars was missing. One could argue that I didn’t tighten them up correctly. But one of the clips holding the “SW-MOTECH ALU-RACK Adapter to fit Monokey Top Cases” broke. It seems that this product didn’t get tested for motorcycle vibrations.

    SW-Motech Toprack -- 2011 Speed Triple

    Matthew

Installation is very easy but you will have to drill thru holes in the under-seat plastic for the bracket feed thru support bolts. The SW-Motech bracket does partially contact the stock at pan — even after the luggage hooks are removed. I had to shim up my seat latch lock mechanism in order for my seat to lock.

I cannot install an after market (Corbin) seat — its basepan has a hard interference with the bracket. The interference causes significant alignment issues with the seat.

Aside for the aftermarket seat installation issues the quality of this product is excellent and its functional usefulness is outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone that wishes to take the touring capability of their Speed Triple to the next level.

Great Product to enhance Sport Touring

    Matthew

Overall this is an excellent product to bring the Speed Triple’s touring capabilities to a higher level. I own a TraX Top Case and now I can switch between my BMW GSA and my Speed 3 in seconds. Installation is easy but you will have to drill thru holes in the under-seat plastic for the SW-Motech provided bracket attach points.

Even with removal of the luggage hooks from my stock seat-pan there is still some minor interference between the seat-pan and SW-Motech bracket. I had to shim-up my latch body in order for my seat to lock.

My only real disappointment is that a Corbin Seat will not fit correctly at all due to the added bracket under the seat. This issue and the slight interference with the stock seat is the only reason I did not give this item 5 stars,
