Description
High-quality German-engineered SW-MOTECH QUICK-LOCK EVO Side Rack for Suzuki DR-Z400S DR-Z400SM & Kawasaki KLX400S. This unique design allows the racks to be removed from the bike in less than 30 seconds without special tools by opening 4 quick-release fasteners on each side. These narrow profile black powder-coated steel racks are compatible with luggage from GIVI (Monokey system) TraX ALU-BOX Pelican Micatech Kappa Shad Hepco-Becker Krauser and more. Adapter kits are sold separately.
When the racks are removed only 4 small mounting tabs remain visible on either side of the bike. These mounting tabs are almost invisible preserving the original visual appearance and size of your motorcycle. Optional key locks (sold separately) are available to lock the racks to the bike with the key unlocking a pair of special quick-release fasteners which secure the racks on each side. The Quick-Lock EVO racks are made of tubular steel which presents the narrowest possible lateral profile. Bolt-on installation — no cutting or welding of motorcycle frame or bodywork is necessary. Racks are designed to work with original equipment manufacturer components — fender exhaust etc. The SW-MOTECH racks are ideal for the occasional weekend tourer who desires a “stealth” look during the week as well as the weekday commuter who needs an unencumbered machine for spirited weekend fun.

Bob –
I always evaluate with an eye toward “what happens in a get off”?
These racks will likely survive relatively undamaged, they’re very sturdy steel.
My biggest concern is two fold:
They are un-flexing enough to transfer most of the energy to the rear subframe. That’s much milder metal (aluminum, I think), and I think it’s gonna twist without much effort from a landing on either side. Soft bags will help absorb some of that energy.
There’s a heavy transfer bar across the rear license plate bracket. It’s designed to transfer bending energy in a getoff to the other side. Yes, it’s gonna do that, no doubt. But, should you “unlock” and remove the racks, that bracket stays on the rear fender (plastic) and bounces up and down on every bump. I think it will eventually break the fender mounts, or break the fender. It’s very heavy.
Otherwise, awesome sturdy panniers. Me Like!

bought these to put on my commuter to use my givi e21 and e22 bags. Fit and finish are excellent. Exactly what I was looking for. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. As usual Twisted Throttle got the item to me fast. Service and qualltyof the product were A++.

The racks are heavy-duty. TraX panniers clip on in seconds. A little bit of Fiddling with Stock ’14 Exhaust. I also Bought the Hard-Bolt kit. The Spacers in the Hard-Bolt kit are Steel and add a few pounds to the bike. They should be made from Aluminium.
