Installed these on my new 2017 Honda XR650L. This is the second time I’ve purchased these support arms. The previous set was installed on my 2012 XR650L. I sold my 2012 but missed it so much I bought another XR650L. This is a very easy install and a MUST have if you plan on adding luggage / gear onto your XR650L. I highly recommend this product and Twisted Throttle is the BEST !!

I did have to grind down the edges to fit my bike but my bike was used so that may be why. It was a simple fix. It looks good and I like the extra strength.

Just purchased a new XR650L and was really wanting to strengthen my rear subframe. I read all about how these were for the stock exhaust only, but I ordered a set to see if I could make it work. My friend with a well equipped shop mocked it up in wood, then made a real simple bracket from some forged 1/8 in aluminum plate and the rear end is strong as an OX now! You could as easily use plate steel. At first I just made one for the exhaust side, but the decided to make it a matched pair. There are no issues with clearance anywhere now. I am sure any local machine shop could make a pair of these in under an hour.

When I purchased these, I knew they only were made for stock exhaust on the xr650l. I have the DG type O exhaust, and weigh 343lbs before gear so I needed support, it was not hard to figure out and to mod the one exhaust side support, I used a 4″ grinder and just ground out a upside down “U” to fit around the pipe, this was the only thing needed to fit with an aftermarket exhaust. It is still very strong, did not lose strength by me notching it out, I tried bending it in all ways, but it is still a very solid piece of steel. I highly recommend them, not the little gusset supports because the gussets just crack right passed the welds, the heat from welds weakin the frame

Upon installation, I found that, like most things, this item required a little “tweaking” to make it fit my bike. Maybe since my ’03 is a little older, the frame is twisted or something but these bars needed some pushing and pulling to make them fit. I stopped just short of drilling the holes bigger. The right side had no problem clearing the Yoshimura pipe but the left side hit the frame behind the battery box. A little bend and it’s fine. I hope this doesn’t compromise it’s structural integrity as I only had to deflect it about 1/4″. Very sturdy steel and the included hardware was correct.

Disappointed they will not fit with FMF Q pipe and header.

I read that is was compatible with Supertrapp Racing Series Exhaust but it is not. Quality looked great but ended up costing me over $22 shipping both ways.
