    Weak fasteners

    Slamtos

Got this extension for my 690 enduro r because it is easily removable. Mounting this on my aluminum rack is a bit of a chore. You have to push down on the fasteners very hard to compress the rubber gasket enough to engage the T lock fasteners. The second time using this rack one of the fasteners broke where it engages the alu-rack. Good luck finding a spare! I liked the “easy on and off” feature but the weak fasteners are a problem.

Solid rack, but interferes with SW-MOTECH Panniers

    Mic

I bought this rack to adapt my SW-MOTECH top rack to be better suited to carry a dryspec bag on my CB500x while on trips where I thought I might need a little more space.

The rack is just too wide, and it can’t be installed with the pannier system on the bike.

I will have to come up with some spacers to space the pucks (and latch hardware) on the pannier carrier if I want to make this work while using panniers, but for the time being, I will just not use this rack and put the bag on lengthwise.

So right now it will hang on my wall in the garage.

    Best soft luggage rack

    Coyote Chris

I have used this for three years on my NT700v and while there is no alu-rack for my new FJR, with the hardware supplied, I adapted it to a Givi rack. This is the best rack for those of us that like to use duffle type bags on the luggage rack. Pleanty of places to attach hi-tech bungies, etc. And the rack comes off and on easily. I would like it a little thicker material but I have never bent it.

SW-Motech Quick Release Soft Luggage Carrier

    DougSA

I installed the Quick Release Carrier on the SW Motech Alu Rack on my 2014 Ninja 650. The Alu Rack has 3 holes which match up with the 3 holes on the carrier for easy attachment. However, I discarded the quick release hardware because the self-tapping screws for the anchor brackets were far too small (about 2mm!?)for this application and furthermore some of them failed to self tap. The quick-release hardware is basically junk. In place of this, I just attached the carrier to the rack with three bolts and nuts. I had to enlarge the 3 holes on the carrier for the larger bolts that I used. I would have given it a 5 if it were not for the poor quick-release attachment hardware. This is a nice carrier which will accommodate my Cortech 2.0 24 liter bag as well as other duffle and roll type bags.

Nice light duty rack- Installation difficult

    Paladin

While installing this rack I found that the holes in the quick release brackets did not line up with the pre-drilled holes in the original alu-rack. The hole spacing was about 1.5 mm too wide requiring filing the bracket holes to fit. Then, one of the the fine thread 3mm screws supplied broke off in the blind hole on the alu-rack. I ended up drilling all four holes out to 3/32″ and tapped them with a 6-32 tap and installed 1/4″ long 6-32 screws to attach the brackets to the alu-rack. Once completed the supplied hardware holds the quick release carrier securely to the alu-rack. The luggage carrier is made from thin aluminum material so be careful not to overload it with luggage to prevent it from bending.

Nice design - but be careful setting up

    coffee_addict

This is a nice system with the Quick Fastener BUT be careful!…

The camlock for the quick fastener attaches to the alurack with self tapping screws. Be careful not to overtighten the CamLock self tapping screws as I did on one CamLock. I was able to resolve by drilling the 2 holes all the way through then using a screw and nut for each. I used a tapered head screw for which I drilled a counter sunk top to the hole (on the luggage carrier side) so the screw head is recessed. This is necessary or the screw head will interfere with the luggage carrier.

    I’ll give 5 stars anyway since I AM a notorious over-tightener 🙂

    Luggage Rack

Bought rack about a month ago and installation was a snap. Quality of construction and appearance are excellent. Could not be happier with the purchase.

    Perfect!

    AndyN

I had purchased the “soft” Triumph bag (for a Tiger 800) hoping to fit it to my Tiger 1050. Of course, it doesn’t strap right on so was looking at how to modify the SW Motech monolock mount I have. A friend suggested the SW ALU-rack and it’s perfect! I can use the Triumph straps etc (I think the bag is made by SW Motech for Triumph, maybe?)

    Just what I needed

    RBR

I used this soft luggage carrier on a non-‘SW-Motech luggage rack. It was easy to install and it’ll only take a minute or two to remove when not needed. It’s light as a feather and just large enough to support the soft tail bag we wanted to use for the 2 week trip we’re planning. Also, it has slots for mounting straps on both sides, front & rear.

It was the perfect solution for us.
