ok but what rear rails are needed; many out there and your mounting plate needs to fit ; some have mini bar that comes up. triump std has sissy bar back rest that don’t work. I just need rear rails; strong enough for a top box; what size is recommended; will a V47 be ok

How thick is this? In other words, how much higher does it make the top case sit?

Unit is thicker than earlier plates and screws provided weren’t long enough for my 2016 BMW R1200RT. After buying longer hex screws from ACE hardware I succeeded installation. New style is heavier and rubber corner tabs reshaped plus better secured.

This is a nice piece. It features thick, strong tubular construction and beautiful deep chrome. Maybe the welds could have been finished a bit neater prior to chrominance, but I have sure seen a lot worse.
It is very solidly made and leaves little doubt that the weak point will be whatever you mount on the rack, not the rack itself. Unlike some racks that merely attach to two underseat mounting points (a mounting method I’d not trust long-term) this has solid thick arms attaching to the shocks that will offset the weight of a top box or whatever. It also allows for some freedom in positioning the top box adapter forward or aft because it doesn’t have a hoop at the seat end like other racks that force the adapter to be mounted far to the rear and hang much of the weight far to the rear.
Finally, I think it has lovely styling, a big grab-handle for the passenger, and it doesn’t block the tail light or require repositioning the turn signals or anything. All-in-all a very nice bit of farkle.

I purchased to use on the existing tubular saddlebag mounts on my older Guzzi. Worked perfect. Now I switch my bags between bikes.
