    Good product, relatively easy install

    DavidK

Product is very bright, so it definitely does the job. The switches seem substantial. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the wiring isn’t quite as substantial as it should be. Also, be careful during install. You must have a phillips screwdriver that fits the tiny Givi screws exactly, or you will strip the heads.

Installation is Not Easy, Though Results are Nice

    artvarck

    January 26th, 2015. Installed on a 2006 Yamaha FZ6 and Givi V47 top case.
Included instructions are near worthless. Illustrations in the instructions suggest that the two molded plugs in the top case can be tapped out with a hammer, though you absolutely need both a 1″ and 3/4″ hole saw for your drill to remove the plugs in the V47 (and the plug in the Givi top case mount) to allow installation of the two circular contact pieces (one required on the bottom of the case for when the case is removed, the other on the top for when the case is opened).
Aligning the 3M light strips with the individual brake light recesses in each lens is an absolute pain, and you get only one shot after removing the adhesive strip to put the light strips in place.
The included wire vampire taps are junk as they’re prone to coming lose.
I strongly feel that the V47 should come with this brake light kit already installed, and leave it to the purchaser to install only the top case mount kit and related electrical assembly. However, I also would “suggest this product to a friend” because the V47 comes with what looks like a brake light lens in place, and drivers behind the V47 would not be out of line to expect to see brake lights even without this kit installed. You pretty much have to purchase this with the V47.

    Ain't That Cool!

    BlueLou

As my 4 year old grandson would say, “Ain’t that cool!” The Givi light kit I bought for by V47 top case makes a lot of difference for being seen by following vehicles. It installs in the lid portion under the red lenses, and has “touch” connectors that make contact when the lid is closed. I’ve knocked off a star because the instructions are a bit sketchy – but, there is a video on youtube that takes you through the whole installation. The video is in Russian, but being able to watch the installation is plenty, and the dialogue isn’t necessary. Also, the top case can be removed from the bike without disconnecting any wiring because there is also a “touch” connector between the case and the mount. Very convenient.
