Description
The DENALI D2 2.0 LED TriOptic™ LED light kit with DataDim technology & amber lenses produces a remarkable amount of light in a very compact package that is perfect for riding in low light/severe weather conditions on any type of motorcycle. With a powerful 10-watt Cree LED the DENALI D2 casts a powerful beam 525ft down the road in your choice of clear or amber for serious foul weather performance and conspicuity.
DENALI 2.0 Installation and Operation
Housed in compact aluminum pods measuring just 2.2in in diameter and 2.4in deep the D2 LED lights are perhaps the most versatile design available; powerful enough to be your “primary” driving light yet small and light enough to comfortably mount on a fender. The DENALI D2s feature durable black powder-coated finishes and special cooling fins to make sure the LED itself runs cool and bright. New for the DENALI 2.0 series is a special Impact PC™ corrosion proof bezel that ensures your lights will continue to look great even after repeated stone and debris impacts. Low profile hinge mounts offer secure mounting and include stainless steel M8 mounting hardware for installation on light bars or model specific light mounts.
The D2 2.0 kit uses a just-developed HotSwap™ modular wiring harness that by default causes these single intensity lights to function at full brightness. But if you would like them to operate at both half and full power simply add the dual intensity DataDim™ controller. No other changes are required except to replace the original relay with the DataDim™ module and connect one wire to the high-beam circuit. (You can also purchase a three-position switch to manually control light intensity independent of the bike’s high beam.)
Also new with the DENALI 2.0 generation of lighting is the industry-leading TriOptic™ lens system. Each lamp comes with clear spot (installed) amber spot amber flood and clear flood lenses. The spot lens produces the greatest beam distance while the flood lens produces a broader spread of light closer to the motorcycle filling the road edge and shoulders. To get the best of both worlds use a spot lens on one light and a flood lens on the other light for distance illumination and a useful spread of light at close range. During heavy precipitation or foggy conditions the amber colored lenses help reduce glare and improve visibility. The clear flood lenses are E-Marked for countries with strict regulations. No matter which lens you choose the D2 2.0 light kit lets you see the road (or lack thereof) and be seen by other traffic around you. It’s that simple: See further be seen better with DENALI!

The lights work well, and the trioptic lenses provide good balance between horizontal and lateral coverage. Lots of light mounting options with additional kits and flexibility with the brackets. So the performance of the lights themselves is high, but the kit has numerous flaws that should not be present in a premium light kit. First the wiring harness is ridiculously short, requiring either purchasing multiple extensions ($15 per side per extension, so to reach the bottom of the fork tubes would add $100-120) or cutting off the plug ends and splicing extension wires (much less expensive). For this price, the harness should be long enough to reach the desired location on any motorcycle, as every other light kit I have ever purchased has done. I’ve moved a set of PIAA halogens purchased in 2002 to 3 different motorcycles, with no issues. The light switch came with brackets to mount to tube handlebars, but the self tapping screws provided cannot seat into the switch housing , as there is too much resistance, and the heads will strip. I would have had to drill into the switch housing to use the brackets, or get different mounting screws. I was fortunate to have a flat spot on the handlebar switch casing to mount the switch with mounting tape, but the double face tape provided was far too thin, and the bottom of the switch housing is not flat, so I had to use other tape to get it to seat. So, while the lights perform their task well, other premium sets at this price point have better quality control and wiring harnesses of required length, so while the lights themselves could be higher rated, everything else drags the rating down. Based on this experience, I would have chosen another brand, and I’m unlikely to consider denali light kits in the future.
