Thin Plastic, Minimal Wind Coverage, and Poor Mirror Clearance

    lambodylan@gmail.com

Givi is a good brand and typically makes high quality products. This windshield, however, seems very lackluster. If you own an Smax, you’ll know the thickness of its stock windshield. This Givi variant is at least half as thick and larger in each other dimension. This causes quite a lot of flex and vibration as you ride. Additionally, that larger size means you need to relocate your mirrors further outward with the included brackets. Even with the relocation, the mirrors have minimal clearance to the windshield, and when adjusted, are significantly closer to the rider, causing issues with visibility.

One of the big reasons I saw to buy this was to have more wind coverage. With myself and wife aboard, we didn’t notice a huge difference in wind coverage compared to the stock windshield. The install itself wasn’t too bad, just spent a lot of time fine tuning the mirrors to be dissatisfied with their final angle and position. The hardware kit was also missing one of the main bolts needed to secure the windshield to the bike (M5x0.8 thread). Twisted Throttle kept up with me via email about the original order, a backorder on a different item ordered, and I’m sure will be fair with a refund, but the product itself isn’t something I would recommend. I ride highway at 70-80mph on my Smax consistently, and the stock windshield does fine for me at 6′ tall. This was supposed to help my wife with buffeting, but she said it seemed about the same with the Givi or the stock. Kinda wished there was a review or two before I bought, but hey, gotta try things out and see how they are myself instead.

    Happy riding!
