    Great simple device

    MR1

Works exactly as expected. It can comfortably hold the throttle’s position in place while still allowing minor adjustments to maintain desired speed. High quality.

Installation on my 2017 SV650 went relatively well. I did need to file the inside of the handlebar pipe to remove the pipe’s inside seam and evened out the end section to get it a bit closer and give it a cleaner seat. I recommend that you lubricate the device before installation (I used a thick waterproof silicone grease) and adjusted the friction allen screw. After that, installation and adjustment was simple and quick.

While not a real cruise control, it really helps on long rides.

  3. Thumper07

Best throttle lock on the market

    Thumper07

I’ve been using this for about a year. At first, I thought it was unreliable and ‘iffy’. But, after I learned how to properly tighten and ‘tweak’ it, it works flawlessly and is an absolute MUST for long highway rides. First, you have to make sure the bar end nut is TIGHT. Using a high quality Allen key that’s in new or like-new condition with all of it’s corners in tact. Hold the bar end with your leather motorcycle gloves, so as to get a good grip, and crank it as tight as you possibly can. If you don’t, the cam action will slowly push the bar end out while you’re on the highway. If it’s tight enough, you can crank the cam down so tight that it completely locks the throttle and keep it from budging at all no matter how many bumps you hit.

Secondly, there is a tiny allen screw in the cam itself that puts tension on its ability to freely rotate. Find it and tighten that as well. Tight enough so it’s not easy to move.

Once those two things are done, the throttle lock is absolutely fool proof. You can collide with a Mack truck and the throttle won’t budge. It will only move when you want it to move.

Now, Third…..tighten the throttle lock BEFORE you get on the highway. While you’re at the gas station getting ready to ride. The cam has a 1/4 inch plastic washer that it rotates on. It will take years for this to wear out so don’t worry about creating excess wear. Just remember that with the cam already tight, the throttle won’t spring back if you take your hand off while in traffic. This will take some getting used to. That’s why I only do it RIGHT before getting on the highway.

Everything is set and you’re good to go. Just start riding and take your hand off the throttle whenever you want. Just remember that it will not spring back, you have to manually turn it.

Then when you get good, it takes a little practice, you’ll be able to turn the cam with your right pinky finger while you’re riding. Either to tighten it or loosen it, to get it just where you like it.

Smooth consistent operation and a high quality piece of equipment. Get one and learn to use it first…before posting a comment on here.

    Can't live without it!

I ride a 2006 SV650 and purchased this Kaoko unit several years ago from Twisted Throttle. It was easy to install. It has performed exceptionally well!

    Check handle bar inside diameter

    nick124

If you are buying this for a GSXR of any kind ensure you check your handlebar inside diameter. I bought this one for my 2006 GSXR 750 and it did not fit. There is another Kaoko throttle lock on this site, product number SUZ100 16.8. It has a 16.8 diameter that will fit properly. That being said TwistedThrottle was great about exchanging my bar ends for the proper ones, very fast turn around! Haven’t had a chance to use it on the road yet but if its anything like the Throttlemeister I used to have it will be good.

  6. Bandito1250

Good quality, but installation is iffy.

    Bandito1250

I installed this on my 2007 Bandit 1250. The quality looks to be high, but I was shocked the hardware inserted into the handlebars is so short, literally maybe 1/2 to 1/3 the length of the factory bar end hardware. I am not completely confident the bar ends will remain in place without further adjustment or maybe having to use some sore of adhesive. For the price of this unit, these things should be rock solid upon insertion. I have yet to try the throttle lock feature but in practice with engine off, it held the throttle well in the “down” position.

Put this on a Suzuki SV650, took two minutes to install. Did 2000 mile trip, it worked excellent.

My right hand and wake up !

    Paul

I have used this for 2 weekends. And it does what it says. This is not so bulky, and almost looks as a STOCK Part for my bike. However, the lock spinner is SO large I am uncomfortable using it. While it is nice to use, the EXTRA Large Tabs require me to hold the handlebars differently. So 3 stars, for only doing what is says it does., and The price Would I recommend this, I would for a comparison ! Noting the discomfort to them.

    Mostly Disapointing

    Okladomer

Just completed a 3,600 mile ride with the Kaoko…useless in the mountains, provides some limited relief on the flat but requires constant fiddling to maintain a consistent rate of speed.
