MFW Crashbar Footpeg System Guide

The MFW Crashbar Footpeg System helps motorcycle riders find the most ergonomic riding position by offering alternate footpeg positions. By allowing the legs to extend to the “highway” pegs located on the crash bars riders can extend their comfort during long days in the saddle. The complete system is made up of 2bparts: the Crashbar Footpeg Mounts and the Footpegs themselves. Unless you are replacing a component or adding to an existing system you will need to order all parts for this to work on your motorcycle. Here is a quick rundown of the components you will need to choose from.

Crashbar Footpeg Mounts are available in black or silver to match your crash bars. These clamping mounts are adjustable from 0.85″ (21mm) to 1.125″ (28mm) and will allow you to mount to just about any crash bar on the market including SW-MOTECH and Givi crashbars.

MFW Footpegs are available in various styles to match your taste of riding style as well as your choice of black or silver finish.

  • MFW MasterSafe Stash Footpegs  incorporate a hidden compartment and a special key that allows secret storage of small items or documents. These pegs measure 4in long. Due to thier length they are recommended for passenger use only.
  • MFW Master Grip Footpegs are CMC machined with pronounced ribs and knurled contact points to enhance grip. They measure 3.25in long.
  • MFW Racing Footpegs measure 3.25in long and are CNC machined with knurled surfaces for grip and a slanted design to improve clearance.
  • MFW Super Grip Footpegs measure 3.25in long and feature vulcanized rubber padding for extra comfort and grip.

    I wouldn’t buy these again.

    Bob

The mounts look great and install easily. The problem is the little ball bearing inside that fits in a detente to hold the pegs in the stored position gets stuck and it’s virtually impossible to get them back down. I’ve resorted to never moving them into the stored position to prevent this.

    2018 Goldwing works great

    Petes1800

I recently bought the new 2018 Honda Goldwing and since it was a new design no aftermarket parts. After my first 1500 mile trip I needed highway pegs. These fit right in the crash bars. Check out my install video on YouTube petes1800.

These were awesome, the first day..I went on a 3 day ride across the smokey mountains,by the time i got back home, one of them somehow got stuck in the up position, and would not fold down…how annoying!

    Perfect fit, True grip!

    Hawk

Arrived today, less than 30 minutes later, attached and riding, they fit my SW-Mototech crash bars/cace savers perfectly! very happy, I got the stock grips for the mounts, all black like my CB1100A, (would have given 5 stars, but once again, the price is to high).
Time will tell how they hold up, but they mounted and work great!

Excellent mounts because of the MANY mounting positions available. I have had several different mounts but most only mounted ONE way and sometimes it was NOT what I needed for the crash bars. NO PROBLEM like that with these. VERY HAPPY

Bought a set of these to replace a previous pair that lasted about two years before the pin fell out . This set didn’t even last one riding season before the same thing happened.
I would not recommend to buy these because they just don’t last I would expect to get more than a few months out of them given the price.

  6. Variety Show

Perfect for my Africa Twin bottom crash bars

    Variety Show

These have multiple adjustments and can be mounted in many different places. I have mine tucked in tight so they don’t catch in case of a drop. These are just what I needed to stretch out on long rides.

    Useful, flexible

    JayCee

These are great. I just finished a 1,200-mile motorcycle trip and these highway foot pegs made a huge difference. I was able to shift my legs around a lot. But the special value is that they also fold out of the way.

Finally found some pegs/clamps that would fit a 7/8” bar that wold fold up. When I received them, they looked to be of good quality but after a month of use they started to stick and would not fold out very easily. With a squirt of lubricant it seemed to help till one fell apart on me at the hinge some where down the highway 2 days into a 3 week trip. Needless to say I’m not impressed for the money you have to pay.

    Nice but,

    britjunkie

At this price point I think the included nuts and bolts should be stainless.

Fits well on SW-Motech crash bars

    brbhouse

Got my feet and legs up into a different position. They will just about mount any where on the SW-Motech crash bars on a KLR650. Order another set of the rubber caps that go the end of the u-bolts.

    Great pegs

    Mooseman

These fit great on my crash bars. They look good and you have the option to change pegs while keeping the same clamp. The best part is they don’t move when you are riding and put pressure on the pegs.

    comfortable pegs

    Circus Bear

I purchased these to fit on the crash bars of a 2014 Suzuki DL1000A. The black finish blends well with the crash bars and installation did not take 20 minutes. Mounting hardware and pegs are very sturdy. Perfect to stretch my legs between gas stops.

i bought for my ’13 klr650 after a few drops on trails they crapped out on me and basically fell apart. if your using them on a bike for just road cruising they would last but any hard adventure enduro riding they dont stand much of a chance

  17. btd

    Works, but pretty poor quality

    btd

Got these for the SW Motech crashbars on my 2012 KLR650. They work and look nice but are pretty poor quality.

As others have mentioned the detents that hold the peg in the upright position are weak, the little metal “shims” inside the rotating assembly are razor sharp and shift around when you raise/lower the peg, and the detent/ball assembly gets easily jammed with the slightest bit of dust/dirt. You need to repeatedly clean the ball assembly area out with WD40 to keep it working. I’ve had them jam up on me during two 4 day rides. Pretty annoying.

I’d gladly pay even more for a high quality mechanism and assembly but had a hard time finding something in black and a relatively small profile. For the price point these are pretty poor quality but they work ok and are better than nothing.

  18. Kf7ja

    Solid attachment

    Kf7ja

2sizes of U bolts are included for a solid installation. The pegs don’t lock down very well highway speeds cause them to click back in th up position if your feet aren’t on them. That means you have to look for them when you should be looking at the road. They need s more positive locking mechanism.

  19. kena48

    Beefy and Look Great

    kena48

I mounted these on 1 one inch crash bar from AltRider. They are nice and tight and great quality.

Be sure and use Loctite on everything. The folding clamps ship with two U bolts. On a one inch bar, the shorted threaded ones will not leave any threads exposed, but the longer ones leave too many threads exposed, interfering with the plastic caps. Tried using silicone, but I’m sure they will eventually go bye bye.

I like to use a level to angle them slightly towards the sky, to eliminate the false sensed the peg is sagging. I also like them to fold backwards vs up, so they don’t fall down off-road.

I matched these with MFW Stash Pegs-Silver anodized SKU MFW.050.00.05.00-1 –
BUT, I’m very happy with the set together – with great quality and the only nice long pegs out there with big grooves to keep your feet on the pegs.

They give me a couple of different riding positions for longer trips. Love ‘em!

Finally a black pair of foot pegs.

    PBH

These are compact and very functional. Tuck away neatly so as not to become an entanglement hazard.

These foot pegs did the trick on my KTM 1190, I was in need of some sort of highway pegs and these definitely filled the bill!

  22. Brian

    Doesn't Fit As Advertised

    Brian

I measured my crash bars with a caliper and they are 22mm. However, the clamp set doesn’t come anywhere near fitting that size even though the ad states 21mm to 28mm. I had to use an M8 nut as a spacer to get the u-bolt to stay where I wanted it. There was room to tighten down the plastic-covered nut so everything looks fine but not as clean as it should.

I haven’t road tested the clamps yet. Will update later. Just wanted others to know that unless your bars are at least 24mm, these clamps won’t fit without doing what I did.

  23. GAC

    Stretch your legs

    GAC

These fit great on the SW Motech crashbars on my Versys and allow a nice leg stretch once in a while on long trips. Simple utilitarian cosmetics, & the black color blends well with the crash bars. Detent that holds the pegs up when not in use could be stronger, as others have mentioned, but not a problem for me.

  24. Mazurekphoto

    Not terribly well made.

    Mazurekphoto

These pegs feel very flimsy and they have been on my bike about a month and one has already vibrated loose and has fallen off.

I would not recommend these for a single cylinder bike especially if mounted on the engine protection bars. They transfer a lot of vibrations and the mostly plastic construction of the $60 Super Grip rubberized pegs do nothing to dampen said vibration.

    Just what I wanted

    Chops

I’m 6’2″ tall and I needed to be able to move my legs around while on my KLR650.I already had Givi crashbars on my bike and these footpegs worked out perfectly. They were very easy to install and blend in perfectly with the Givi’s.I was glad I was able to finally find them on Twisted Throttle.I have highway pegs on my Nomad and Drifter. Now I have the same comfort for my legs on the KLR.Can’t wait for my MRA windscreen spoiler to get here.
