Description

Please note: This item does not come with fuses shown in the images.

This kit uses space saving ATM mini fuses.

Replaces the main (20 amp) headlight (10 amp) and radiator fan (10 amp) fuses.

Connection to the radiator fan requires splicing using the supplied ‘Posi-lock’ connectors – light years ahead of crimp connects (and MIL-spec too).

Shown with weatherproof fuse cover removed.

Great product and easy to install

Installing this kit was super easy. The hardest part was locating the fuse for the radiator fan but even with that it only took about 15 minutes.

Say goodbye to glass fuses easily!

    Grooster

This kit makes replacing your glass fuses with reliable blade fuses a simple task. If you have a first gen KLR keep in mind you’ll get additional wiring for the fan fuse that you do not have. The instructions are for later models but still apply. Not a problem – Just wrap up the extra wiring and hide it behind the coil cover. The kit is plug and play! Plus you get more room on top of your battery – cleaner look, too.

    Easy to install

Bought this product and finally installed it. Directions were largely self-explanatory, especially as you look at the wires on the bike. The only challenge is figuring out where and how to install the fuse block. I chose to install it backwards from the instructions to provide additional protection for the wiring. You can find additional directions with great pictures if you search the internet.

    Good upgrade , horrible instructions

Bought this for my 88. “Locate the factory fan fuse” but after searching and google to the rescue, KLRs did not get a fan fuse until 1990.Little footnotes like that would be nice. Pictures in the instructions would be a big

Excellent quality and easy to install

    jetpoweredmonkey

This little fuse panel is a great addition to any KLR – don’t forget to toss a few spare fuses in your tool kit. Installation is very easy and the Posi-Lock connectors for the radiator fan splice are simple to use. Instructions are perfectly fine for an experienced installer, though photos would be nice for beginners. You will definitely want to remove the tank to run the wiring to the radiator fan fuse.

Bonus tip – after you take out the old glass fuse holder, remove the red two-pin connector, solder the ends together and you now have a handy jumper to bypass your side stand switch if it fails out in the field.

Took maybe 15 minutes to install. Even for someone like myself who sucks with wiring and general wrenching on my motorcycle. Great product.

Excellent mod, only one minor glitch

    klrjason

Bought this for the “Project KLR” a month ago. Since this is my second bike, I thought I should update it.
The kit is small, relatively easy, complete and comes with very detailed instructions. A great deal that may get your butt out of a pickle one day.
Installation was wicked fast and following the instructions, quite easy. Plug and play for the most part, with only two wires (fan) that need to be cut. This is where my only hiccup occurred.
I’m not sure who the munchkin was that suggested, trialed, then included the “twist lock” fasteners in the kit, but I’d LOVE to see a picture of their incredibly small and nimble fingers using said connectors. I’ve got a few years of wrenching under my belt, and I’ll be damned if I could twist, insert, turn and lock those wires into place. I don’t have sausage fingers, neither would they be classed as petite, but dear sweet Holy Cow. There was no way I could accomplish that seemingly small task.
I used crimp – type butt connectors and heat shrink tube. Simple. ..
That one tiny point was my only complaint.
This is an excellent upgrade, well thought out, we’ll equipped, and definitely worth your hard earned “farkle money”.
(Complaint was entirely tongue in cheek)

The harness works great and resolved issues that I was having. Instructions were really bad and misleading though. I was able to figure it out myself though.

I had some damage to my OEM fuse holder on my 07 KLR. I used this kit to replace the damaged components, update to blade fuses, and relocate the fuse box.

Took a whole 5 minutes to install (after de-triming). Works great, and much happier with the plastic fuses and new accessible fuse box. Recommended to everyone.

  14. ARS

Very High Quality Upgrade! Easy Too!!

    ARS

I had a fuse failure on my KLR while on a ride that was resolved but I had to take off my top box, then my side panniers then the side covers and finally the seat just to replace a simple fuse. What a pain in the neck!

I bought this fuse relocation harness and was very impressed with the very high quality. It was easy to install, just unplug the old fuses and install the new harness. The radiator fan fuse did require cutting the old fuse holder out, but the electrical connectors that were provided made that part of the installation easy as well. No need for a crimping pliers.

All in all this is certainly one of the best mods I have ever done to my trusty KLR.

  15. Knightsabre

    Excellent upgrade!

    Knightsabre

This is one of the other weak points of the KLR…the fuses! Not only are the stock fuses glass (and FRAGILE!), but they are a pain to get to in order to change them! With my cases mounted, I have to remove no less than 10 bolts/screws to get to the two primary fuses…and if the fan fuse goes, you have to take the gas tank off as well!
Well, this part takes care of ALL OF THAT. Not only does it replace those fragile glass tubes with hearty MICRO-BLADE fuses, it also places them in a position that you can actually GET TO without having to tear your KLR half apart (Oh, and did I mention that it’s waterproof?)! PLUS: It’s PLUG-AND-PLAY, with the exception of the fan fuse, which is almost as easy, with the supplied Posi-Lock connectors. EASY-PEASY!

TWO BIG THUMBS-UP! If you don’t have this mod yet, GET IT. You’ll thank yourself later!
