Twisted Staff Picks 2020: Stocking Stuffers

Stocking Stuffers

Twisted Throttle Staff Pick

These stocking stuffers are items that the staff here has selected as some of their favorite motorcycle accessories, so we know they will make great gifts for the rider in your life.

Lighting Stocking Stuffers

One of our favorite lights from DENALI right now is also the newest offering, the T3 Switchback Signal Pods FRONT and REAR. The small LED pods are not only a white or red running light, but also a turn signal and brake light. As you might imagine, there are front and rear versions of the T3 available, and there are a variety of mounting options. Put them on the handguards, fenders, license plate, or anywhere else you might want to add some conspicuity lighting to the bike. The T3’s make a great stocking stuffer!

Our other favorite light in the DENALI lineup is the DM. No, it’s not the biggest, most expensive, or brightest light that DENALI makes… But it does have a very specific use that is important to all motorcyclists, and that’s safety. See, the DM has a very concentrated beam pattern, which when viewed from the front is incredibly bright. This concentrated beam makes it easy for oncoming traffic to see you, day or night. And because this light pod is so small, it’s easy to mount it to the front of your bike. We suggest mounting it lower, around your front wheel or fender, to create a triangular pattern with your stock headlight. This pattern is much easier for other drivers to notice and judge speed or distance. So the DENALI DM is a great option if you want to  keep your loved one safe this holiday season.

Protection Stocking Stuffers

Frame sliders are one of the best ways you can protect the engine and frame of your motorcycle. These Frame sliders from R&G are made from high-performance UV-resistant plastics that provide enhanced abrasion and wear resistance for maximum protection. Frame sliders are designed to keep the frame of your motorcycle up and away from the ground in the event of a drop or slide. Using a frame slider kit is good practice if you want to reduce the chances of damage to your frame, radiators, or even the engine. Being a step ahead of the game and preparing your bike is crucial if you want to avoid costly repair work or any missed time on the road. These R&G frame slider kits are available for a variety of motorcycles! Frame sliders make a great stocking stuffer!

If protection is on your mind, then you don’t want to skip installing a skid plate. Skid plates are crucial for protecting the bottom of your engine from rocks, logs or other road debris. If you are an offroad or ADV rider, this protection isn’t even an option, as riding conditions often throw a variety of objects into the underside of your bike. For road riders, protecting your engine and exhaust from stones or other objects that might get slung up from your front tire is also a good idea. The last thing you want is to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a hole in your engine and oil all over the ground. Twisted offers a variety of Givi and SW-Motech Skid plates for most motorcycles.

Luggage & Storage Stocking Stuffers

If the adventure rider in your life finds themselves traveling in more remote areas where fuel is a potential concern, then the best gift you could give this holiday season is a Desert Fox fuel bladder. Strong enough to handle the worst conditions yet flexible enough to be folded away, the desert fox fuel bladder presents an economic and lightweight alternative to expensive additional hard tanks or cumbersome jerry cans. These fuel bladders are compact enough to fold away into your luggage when not in use. They are ideal for filling with fuel and mounting to the top of panniers, top cases, or anywhere else on your bike. There are three sizes available: 3 and 6L versions for motorcycle travel and a 20L for 4×4 and overlanding use.

One of our favorite storage options here at Twisted Throttle is the DrySpec D38 dry bag. This 38L rigid mount dry bag is constructed of RF welded 22oz vinyl that guarantees 100% waterproof performance even when submerged. The rigid core allows you to strap the bag down securely even if it is empty, and allows quick and easy access to the contents inside. The DrySpec D38 is available in black, grey, or orange.

And, if you’re going to be strapping fuel bladders and drybags to your bike, then you can’t overlook Rok straps, which make a great stocking stuffer this time of year. Simply loop each end of the Rok straps around the rack or frame on your bike, buckle, and cinch. It’s that easy to use and allows enough adjustability to suit any type of cargo you might find yourself carrying while out on a ride. Rok straps make a great stocking stuffer!

Honorable Mentions

One of the best gifts you can give to your riding friends and family is the gift of hearing protection. Did you know that wind and vehicle noise while out on a motorcycle can be dangerous to the ears, causing long term hearing loss especially later in life? NoNoise earplugs use a ceramic filter to keep harmful frequencies from damaging hearing, while allowing other sounds like sirens, bluetooth speakers, and conversation to still be heard. NoNoise makes the motosports version for motorcycle and powersports applications but also has a variety of other versions including shooting, music, gardening, and more. Everyone on your gift list this year will be covered with NoNoise earplugs. NoNoise makes a great stocking stuffer!

If your gift list includes someone who puts lots of miles on their chain driven bike, then the Scottoiler xSystem automatic chain oiler will likely be their favorite gift this year. With an adjustable drip of oil, the chain will stay clean and lubricated mile after mile, extending the life of the chain ten fold! With the Scottoiler, fewer chain adjustments will be needed and less time will be spent cleaning and lubricating the chain, meaning your beloved motorcyclist will spend more time riding and less time in the garage! The Scottoiler makes a great stocking stuffer!
